Customer Spring Evaluation Program

Lee Spring’s SpringPerfect Customer Spring Evaluation Program provides a complimentary reverse engineering service for customers who need to identify, replace, or reproduce an existing spring. Simply send us a physical evaluation part and our engineering team will evaluate it using professional inspection methods and equipment to develop an accurate quotation.

This program is available for a variety of needs, including new design requirements, replacement springs, and specification confirmation for an existing quote or order. It is typically initiated as part of a Request for Quote (RFQ).

Types of Evaluation Parts We Accept

• Any type of spring or wire form
• Stock replacement or custom spring evaluation parts
• Unused, used, or broken springs (please note the condition of your evaluation parts when submitting)

Number of Evaluation Parts

When available, sending multiple evaluation parts of the same type is recommended, but not required. Multiple evaluation parts help establish nominal dimensional values and allow for additional inspection or testing if required.

Steps to Submit a Spring for Evaluation

Step 1: Complete the Spring Evaluation Intake Form

Please complete and include the Spring Evaluation Intake Form with your shipment. This helps ensure proper identification and handling of your evaluation upon arrival.

Step 2: Packaging & Shipping

Please ship evaluation parts using a commercial shipping service (such as UPS, FedEx, or USPS) in a box or padded bubble mailer. Packaging should protect the part from deformation or damage during transit. Sending parts through standard letter mail is not recommended.

• Individually bag, wrap, or secure loose parts
• Avoid envelopes that may bend or crush the parts
• Clearly label all parts if more than one item is included

Evaluation Parts Retention & Returns

Evaluation parts are typically retained as engineering reference, particularly once an order is placed. Retaining evaluation parts supports specification confirmation and manufacturing review.

Returns are available upon request. Customers are responsible for return shipping costs and must provide a carrier account number. If a returned evaluation part is needed again after an order is placed, resubmission may be requested to support production.

In most cases, yes. Reverse engineering uses a physical evaluation part as the basis for developing a quotation.

Can I send an evaluation part if I only need a small quantity?

If I don't specifically ask for a standard equivalent, will one be offered on my quote?
Yes. If a stock equivalent or something close to it is available, it will be included as an alternative on your quote.

What kinds of springs can you reverse engineer?
Compression, extension, torsion, wire forms, and specialty springs.

Can you duplicate a spring if I don't know the specifications?
Yes. Simply send us a sample, and our engineers will measure dimensions, determine spring rate, identify material assumptions, and document performance details to create a precise replacement.

Do I need any knowledge of spring design?
Not at all. Many of our customers come to us without any technical information, and we handle all measurements and testing.

Can you improve performance rather than just copying the original?
