Bantam™ Mini Series (inch) Compression Springs

Miniature Compression Springs with Big Performance.

Lee Spring part CB0040A 01 E is a precision-engineered micro compression spring from the Bantam™ Mini Series (inch) series, designed for applications requiring compact and precise spring performance. This miniature compression spring features an outside diameter of just 0.025 inches (0.64 mm) with a 0.032-inch hole diameter (0.81-mm hole diameter), making it suitable for micro assemblies where tight-tolerance assemblies and space is at a premium. Constructed from Elgiloy, a high-performance cobalt-chromium-nickel alloy known for its excellent corrosion resistance and biocompatibility, the spring delivers a spring rate of 8.779 lb/inch (1.537 N/mm) across its 0.05-inch free length (1.27-mm free length). With squared ends and 4.41 active coils out of 6.41 total coils, the spring compresses to a solid height of 0.03 inches (0.76 mm) while maintaining a load capacity of 0.179 pounds at maximum compression (0.8 N). The 0.004-inch wire diameter (0.1-mm) and 0.013-inch rod diameter (0.33 mm) provide the optimal balance between strength and flexibility for precision mechanical applications.

About the BANTAM™ Mini Compression Spring Series

Bantam™ Mini Compression Springs are Lee Spring’s unique line of miniature compression springs. These Stock products are offered in wire sizes .0040”, .0045”, .0050” and .0055”. The Inch sizes (prefix CB) include selections to work inside hole diameters 1/32", 3/64" and 1/16" and in a range of free lengths from .050" up to .625". The Metric sizes (prefix CBM) include selections to work inside of hole diameters 1mm, 1.5mm and 1.8mm in a range of free lengths starting at 1mm up to 12mm. The ends are closed and squared, not ground. In order to meet and maximize the performance needs of a potentially diverse range of applications, Lee Spring selected Elgiloy® as the alloy for Stock BANTAM™ Mini Springs. Elgiloy® is a Cobalt-Nickel alloy known for its high strength, e.g. 10% stronger than Type 316 Stainless Steel. It exhibits superior resistance in most corrosive environments including acetic acid, ammonium chloride, citric acid, sodium chloride and sodium sulfite. This material performs well in temperatures up to 850° F. Elgiloy® is non-magnetic.
