There are various types of spring available according to the application for which the spring is required. The most common type of spring is the compression spring, which condenses under a force (also known as a ‘push’ application).
A compression spring is helical with open coils. It is available in different shapes including conical (such as in a battery spring), barrel and hourglass shaped, or with reduced ends (that tapers at either end). The most common shaped compression spring is cylindrical.
Compression springs are generally placed over a rod or in a hole and can be used within a number of applications and appliances, such as in automotive engines or large stamping presses, lawn mowers, medical devices, mobile or cell phones, and various electronic devices.
